What would you perform here?

Just south of the pathetic Cesar Chavez Memorial Garden at Farnsworth Park, there’s an 800-seat amphitheater. It’s so well-hidden that I didn’t realize it was just 100′ away from me while I partied down at the blogger picnic on Saturday afternoon.
I wonder how often there are performances here? I can envision a summer Shakespeare or concert series. If I were a kid living near here, I’d put on my own show. Think of the possibilities!
I wish we had something like this in my town. I hope Altadena’s appreciating it!
When I lived in Pasadena, I served on the Recreation & Parks Commission. Farnsworth Park wasn’t under our jurisdiction, since it’s maintained by the County of Los Angeles. But Pasadena has many other fine parks, so we had lots to do.
I can’t wait until the new series “Parks and Recreation” debuts on April 9th. I love “The Office” and I think Amy Poehler is terrific, so my expectations are high.
If I didn’t get vertigo, I’d go see Fuerzabruta

Imagine attending a show where a 50′ swimming pool with a clear bottom floats above your head. Then, imagine being able to reach up and touch the performer’s hands, with just a thin layer of Mylar in-between. That’s what happens at Fuerzabruta, the new off-Broadway show that’s the brainchild of Diqui James, the Argentinian theater artist who created De La Guarda. Here’s how NPR describes Fuerzabruta:
Fuerzabruta is a 360-degree experience — a dizzying whirlwind of energy that takes place around and above the audience. It’s kind of like being inside a Cirque du Soleil show; there’s no comfortable seat to watch the action, because you’re right in the middle of it.
And you’re expected to participate.
I heard about this from Lisa P., whose cousin, Hallie Bulleit, was interviewed for the NPR story. Unfortunately, the first thing she says about the story is, “Well, you can’t have vertigo.” Perhaps this isn’t the show for me, then. But you should go, and regale me with the details! I love Cirque du Soleil, so I bet this is fabulous. Maybe I’ll throw caution to the wind, take some go anyway. Then again, I’m probably safer attending one of my stepsister’s off-Broadway Big Moves shows.
